Holiday mugging

New mugs out in time for holiday shoppers!

Been having a great time with the new series. Donating 25 percent back to an organization that helps maintain a  preservation area near my studio.

Met a fellow central coast potter who came into the studio today. He specializes in crystal-glazed porcelain. You can check out his work at WeavStudio.com.

Picked his brain about the cracks I'm getting in the bottom of my large bowls. I've tried all the obvious answers... no water in the bottom, drying slowly, etc. He had some thoughts about compressing the bottom really well when I'm trimming. I hadn't been doing that, so will be sure to give it a try.

Thanks Steve!

Merry Christmas Patricia! I love this series - the mugs look great.

Someone told me a trick about s cracks. Do you wedge your clay before throwing? - if yes - then put the wedged clay on the wheelhead with the spiral to the side - not straight-up. This person's theory was the clay 'remembered' the spiral. Hey - anything's worth a try if you're dealing with s cracks!

Merry Christmas, the clay has a memory sounds like sound advice; hope you get the cracks figured out.
