Puppy love

Champ came home with us last Sunday. What a bundle of energy! Between lots of studio work and lots of puppy walking, I've been busy!

At just 12-weeks old, he's already keeping up with Mae, our 3-year-old black standard.

This last photo, below, is is a picture of me with Champ's dad, Max... Gives you an idea of how big this guy will grow. Within days of bringing Champ home, we had to locate another crate for him to sleep in at night. He was already too big to use the one we had for Mae when she was little!

I've also been busy this week in the studio and will post new pics soon!

What beautiful dogs! I would love to have a standard Poodle. You'll have your hands full for a while!

and hey, is that you?
John Steinbeck wrote about standard poodles being the ultimate dog, and judging from the smart and friendly and sweet natured one at our neighbors it is true :)
YOU ARE SOOOO lucky :)

Hi Judy - Hands full is an understatement today! Seems like he's grown again overnight and exploded with energy. Two loooong walks/romps today with both dogs chasing each other for an hour.

Hi Gary - Yep, it's ol' dog-smitten me! I think John Steinbeck was right on. I come from Steinbeck country... both Canary Row area in Monterey County, CA, where I grew up and Grapes of Wrath area in the great central valley of California, where I lived for 25 years. I didn't know he felt that way about standard poodles though! :)

that puppy looks like he's ready to get into some trouble... what a cutie though. i've heard that despite the characterizations of poodles that they are indeed excellent hunters. looks like you're in for some fun
