  1. Been there, done that! My kiln is on a 10 hour candle right now to avoid the very same thing happening. I have some really thick stuff in there and I just know it wants to explode, I can feel it! Sorry for the loss :(

  2. I HATE when that happens!
And it does happen- well- kick the dogs and move on.
    (don't really kick the dogs!)

  3. Ohhh - I think we've all been there. And it's so much fun to clean up too.

  4. OOO, I'm SOOO sorry! Saying that I've been there (a few times) probably doesn't ease your worry, I know, but...I'm glad a few pieces were spared the carnage!

  5. What a bummer, I have been wondering if dry pieces can re-absorb moisture when the humidity is high, especially here on the East coast, but might be true for the West coast where you are?

  6. Linda I think it does. We recently experienced the same thing even after letting the tile air dry for 3 weeks.

  8. Hi All! Thanks for the kind words. Being reassured that it happens to everyone somehow makes it better. Misery loves company, I guess! Actually, I've moved on, as we all do... Time for the next round!

  11. OUCH! I've been there too, what a bummer....One of the times it happened to me, it was a hand built piece with a sculpted sunflower on that I had almost 50 hours in. It was to be a graduation present for my daughter's college graduation. I still have all the pieces and shards, couldn't bear to throw it away. One of these years when I'm not so busy, I might try it again.
    Otherwise, hope all is well!!!
