I delivered three new pieces to the San Luis Obispo Museum of Art last week... and the "Bee Box" was sold within hours of putting it on display!

The "Bee Box" was part of a series done when I was resting my throwing muscles. I didn't do any throwing on the potter's wheel for two months and turned to using my extruder, altering and making these lidded boxes.

I unloaded more work out of the kiln last week, and a new cycle of boxes and vessels is underway. Though I'm happy to say I'm back on the wheel, I'm now incorporating a lot more hand-building with slabs and extruded forms into my work.

It truly was the silver lining in the mandatory "time off" from the wheel I had to give myself. I love that about clay... There are so many different avenues you can take to stay excited and energized!
