Having an Incredible Dessert

If you’re like me, longing for a little gourmet dessert, but trying to eat a healthy diet, that’s a question to ask. Can we enjoy healthy desserts at a special family dinner?

As a general guide, we all try to avoid sugar, but eating sweets in moderation is acceptable for a healthy diet. Let’s not forget that a healthy diet is a lifestyle and not a temporary condition, so we must be able to enjoy our food while respecting good nutrition rules. So, moderate and balanced nutrition is really the essential elements of a healthy diet. But when it comes to choosing that particular dessert table setup Singapore, is sugar the only enemy to avoid? Here are some guidelines I use to choose the perfect dessert for my family dinner.

If you buy your own dessert:

  • Choose all natural ingredients or the best, if possible, go for organic products.
  • Avoid sweets that contain trans fats and partially hydrogenated or hydrogenated oils. Obviously, there are no GMOs.
  • High fructose corn syrup is bad for you. Recent studies have shown that consumption of high fructose corn syrup leads to excessive accumulation of fat compared to the same amounts consumed as regular sugar.
  • Avoid artificial colors and all kinds of fancy-named preservatives. Read the labels – If you can’t understand what this ingredient is, it is most likely not natural or beneficial for you.

If possible, make the dessert from scratch with natural ingredients. It will ensure healthier health and taste better too! When choosing the correct recipe, choose lighter, low-fat, and low-sugar desserts. Unless your doctor directs you to a specific medical condition, do not substitute less healthy margarine alternatives for butter or sugar with artificial sweeteners, just try using a recipe that uses fewer of these ingredients and uses low-fat dairy products. Eat smaller meals too! Moderation is key! If possible, use organic milk, it is healthier and tastes much better!

In your search for a light and healthy gourmet recipe, keep in mind that calories are important, but they are only part of the story. Healthy and natural ingredients are good for your body. For example, keep in mind that although nuts are high in calories, nuts in general, and especially walnuts, which are used mainly in European recipes, contain omega-3 fatty acids that are very beneficial and healthy for your body and mind.

More good news: recent research has shown that chocolate is really good for you! Dark chocolate (at least 70% cocoa) contains a large amount of antioxidants that are very beneficial for your body. Try not to mix it with milk, as this has been shown to reduce the body’s ability to absorb antioxidants.
